Link baiting - how does it work?

It sounds so easy and is yet so hard… Set up a webpage that offers to your visitors something unique, something that is extremely useful or impressive, astonishing or shocking. Depending on the general category of your webpage, this could be any kind of content and media: A tool, a text, a video, an image or any kind of service that fits the attributes described before.

If you did it right, as soon as your website is getting a minimum amount of traffic, other webmasters will be spreading word about your website by linking to it, and your quantity of inbound links will increase exponentially.
